TLV320ADC3100: TLV320ADC3100

Part Number: TLV320ADC3100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1862

Hi Sir,

I checked ADC3100 d/s looks can only set to 2 Differential mode(IN2L and IN3L, IN2R and IN3R), or 4 single end(IN2L,IN2R,IN3L,IN3Rsingle end).

If possible set to 1 Differential + 1pair single end for R and L?

Thanks, Ian.

  • Hi Ian,

The TLV320ADC3100 does support up to 4 inputs, but it is only a stereo ADC so only 2 channels are supported simultaneously. The inputs can be summed together though before going to one of the ADCs.

It is possible to configure 1 set of inputs as differential and 1 as single-ended simultaneously.

    Best,

    Zak

  • Hi Zak,

When you say it is possible to configure 1 set of inputs as differential and 1 as single-ended simultaneously, could you advise how to configure the register and how to connect the AUX-IN signal and Karaoke single to ADC?

Because I think when it configure to 1 differential (IN2L,IN3L) for Karaoke MIC then we can only use IN2R or IN3R for AUX-in.

But AUX-in has to support stereo input. So it may not meet our requirement.

The scenario that our customer requires, please check if TLV320ADC3100 can do it?

1.When we use Karaoke MIC, we do not want to hear the AUX-in audio.

2.When we use AUX-in audio ,we do not want to hear Karaoke MIC input.

     AUX-in must support stereo.

Karaoke MIC needs to configures to differential input to avoid non-stop plug noise.

    Thanks, Ian.

  • Hi Ian,

You are correct, since the differential inputs require both input pins for either the left or right channel and left ADCs cannot accept right inputs, it would only be possible to do 1 differential input and mono aux-in unless you mux one of the pins externally.

We do have other devices like the PCM1862 that can do this without issue.

    Best,

    Zak
