Hello,

I have my PCM5242EVM module here. First test is to get simple USB Audio Passthrough to the outputs.

I understand that there is a "TIDA-00385" which was a development platform similar to the PCM5242EVM. And that the instructions here will help me get it configured for basic USB Audio Passthrough.

I found that Jumpers J7-J9 were not on the PCM5242 but are listed in the user manual for the other device. So I assume they are "shorted" as listed in the user guide.

At the end of the user guide it says "3.7 The board is now configured and should be correctly setup and should play audio sourced from your computer. If you unplug the board you will have to run through this procedure again."However, I can not get any sound out of the device.

I requested access to the purepath studio. Is it possible that I need to have Purepath Studio in order to complete this simple test? Are there any other documents I should be working with to figure this out?

Hi Jay,

You can configure the PCM5242EVM with Pure Path Console, not Studio. Request access here:
www.ti.com/.../PUREPATHCONSOLE

Hello Paul,

Thanks for the information. I'm sorry if I put in 3 requests. I wasn't sure if I requested the right thing. I'll await a response.

It still should be possible for me to wire it up without the Purepath Console if I were to configure it in hardware mode, correct? I'm struggling with that configuration now and can't seem to get it to work either with another controller sending I2S signals. Or am I mistaken, do I need to first choose a "ROM" or "RAM" program and enable it in the Purepath Console?

Hello,

I downloaded the Purepath Console and the PCM5242 isn't showing up as an available app to download. How do I downoad the GUI as discussed in the TIDA quick start guide.

It says in the Quick start Guide

4.1 Download and install the PCM5242RHBEVM PurePath Console GUI from the EVM webpage here: www.ti.com/.../PCM5242RHBEVM This reference design is 100% compatible with the EVM GUI

But I can't find that download. The Purepath Console Shows This.

Hi Jay,

Looks like you installed PurePath Console 3 (PPC3), if you go to TI.com/mysecuresoftware and select the PurePath Console page again, you will see PurePath Console 2 listed under 3. That is version that supports the PCM5242EVM.

OK, That solved that, thank you for your ongoing support. Now I have the PurePath Console 2 setup but is gives me an error DISCONNECTED FWIDPCM5242EVM.

I go to the top left and select the option to select target. The software says "Changing target". Then Loading. Then the same thing happens again. I then try "add Target" and select PCM5242_v2.1_rev35934.ppc2. It goes through the same spin and then doesn't connect.

Top right is an exclamation point.

Any advice on how to successfully connect?

GOT IT. I missed a single short on one of the GPIO pins. I plugged it in and it works.
