Electromechanical audio transducer driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM48560, TAS2562, TPA2100P1

Can we connect Electromechanical audio transducer to audio amplifier.

The specification of the transducer is

RATED VOLTAGE                              12 Vpk
OPERATING VOLTAGE RANGE        8 ~ 14 Vpk
RATED CURRENT (MAX)                  55 mA
COIL RESISTANCE                           120 OHM
MINIMUM SPL @ 10 CM (@ 1kHz)   85 dBA
RESONANT FREQUENCY                1,000 - 1,500 Hz

We have connected 3.3V/5V to supply voltage of the IC

I am looking for an audio amplifier that can drive this audio transducer.

Thanks

  • Hi,

Our team will take a look at this issue. We will reply as soon as possible.

  • Hi,

We have few suggestions for your requirements:

    TPA2100
    LM48560
    TAS2562

However, we have had much testing on this. If you could share the transducer datasheet and more details, we could provide a better solution and do some tests.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Luis,
The following are the Electromagnetic speaker part numbers which we need to drive

    1. AS02708CO-WR-R
    2. AS04008CO-WR-R
    3. WSP-5008-57

Also we need to drive the following Piezo speakers with capacitance of maximum of 1uF

    1. APS2513S-T-R
    2. APS3008S-R

Is there any amplifier which can drive both Piezo and Magnetic speakers which are listed above

We can provide 3.3V/5V to supply voltage of the amplifier. And audio analog input is provided by DAC from controller.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hi, Subramani,

Regarding your question about all the speakers parts, the first three inductive speakers ( AS02708CO-WR-R, AS04008CO-WR-R, WSP-5008-57) could be driven with some devices that I suggested in previous responses (LM48560, TAS2562). They all support this kind of loads.

Regarding the piezo speakers, you may take a look at the TPA2100P1 or the devices in our piezo speaker driver portfolio ( www.ti.com/.../products.html ).

Unfortunately, due to the differences between all the speakers, you would require different drivers to use them. If you use a different device than those that I suggested, there could be a wrong behavior or even the risk to damage the speaker.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
