LM48511: Inductor value discrepancy on LM48511

Hi,

i noticed there were discrepancy on the inductor values as per comparison between LM48511 EVM BOM from dataseet vs actual EVM PCB. Were there revision/changes on existing EVMs? Also please advise if we can swap the IHLP-2525CZ-01 with Chilisin BMRA000606156R8MA1 inductor for actual end equipment use case?

Hi, Leo,

The recommended inductor is the IHLP-2525CZ-01 as the datasheet mentions. The BMRA000606156R8MA1 inductor seems to be fine but the Isat value is lower. If this inductor will be used, it is important to consider that the load power will be lower too as mentioned in section 8.2.2.10 of datasheet: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm48511.pdf#page=19

Regarding the PCB modification, it seems that the BOM has always contained the 4.7uH inductor. It seems to be a typo in the inductor value since the previous component also has a 4.7 value.

Hi Luis,

Thanks for the clarification, upon physical inspection on an recently unboxed LM48511SQBD. The L1 inductor is showing a marking of 6.8uH. Can you verify if this is the similar case seen on other existing board?

Hi, Leo,

I checked 5 new LM48511SQBD and all of them have L1 = 6.8uH. Definitely, this should be a typo error in the BOM table of the User's Guide. We will work to modify this mistake as soon as possible.
