DIT4096: Need for Synchronization of Master Clock and I2S Input

Hi Team,

When working with the DIT4096 configured in I2S slave mode and driven from a Bluetooth module with I2S audio outputs, do the I2S input signals need to be synchronous to its local master lock input? The DIT4096 local master clock input is 24.576 MHz. In this application. the Bluetooth module is configured as I2S master and provides BCK, LRK and SDATA as expected but is not running from the same 24.576MHz master clock.

Hi Garret,

In scenarios where the audio data is asynchronous with the Master clock, there can be slip conditions where a sample is skipped or repeated. There is an interrupt on the DIT that can alert you of this situation.

Ideally the master clock would be synchronous, but of course this is not always possible. Slip conditions will degrade performance, but if they are minimal, it would not be noticeable.
