TPA3255EVM: Reducing Noise

Part Number: TPA3255EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: NE5532, OPA1612, OPA1678, TPA3251EVM

Would replacing the NE5532 with something like the OPA1612 and replacing the Op-Amp input and feedback resistors with a 2K instead of the 10K resistors lower the output noise of the EVM? I know this would reduce input impedance to the EVM but as long as my DSP board can still drive the EVM this seems like it should inject less noise.

  • Hi Jerry,

Funny you say this. I changed out the NE5532 on the TPA3251EVM a couple of years ago with the OPA1678 device. There should be no problem switching out the op-amps. For the resistors, changing to a 2kohm resistor shouldn't cause any issues. As you said, as long as the DSP board can still drive the EVM it should be fine.

    Best Regards,
