TAS6424M-Q1: How to recover from protection

Part Number: TAS6424M-Q1

Hello Team,

I would like to ask about DC detect and Overvoltage protection.

Q. How to recover from DC detect protection. If the DC offset returns to normal level, Does the device automatically clear the I2C fault register and de-assert the FAULT pin then automatically restart the DC load diag? OR should we write CLEAR FAULT bit?

Q. Same as above question. How to recover from Overvoltage protection?

Q. After the recover from DC detect, will the device perform DC load diagnosis for the specific channel which was in DC detect? or will the device perform DC load diagnosis for all 4 channels?

Thanks,

Yuta Kurimoto

  • Hi Kurimoto-san,

    1. DC fault.

Once DC fault triggered, even DC fault condition has been removed, the device will not auto recover. DC fault flag, Fault/ pin will be latched. User needs a manually clear fault operation(0x21->0x80) to clear the flags and go back to normal operation.

    2. OV fault

Once DC fault triggered, the device will recover normal operation as long as the OV condition was removed, but the register fault flag and Fault/ pin will stay there unless a manually clear fault operation executed.

    3. When recovering from a DC fault, the device will not do DC diagnostic automatically. DC fault is more likely caused by DC audio input, while the DC load diagnostic is to use "DC method" to check the loading condition. Although they all have the word "DC", they are totally different things.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Sam
