PGA2505: Layout recommendation

Part Number: PGA2505

Hello,

We want to use the PGA2505 in a XLR/Phantom power application.

Is it ok if we don't split the PGA2505 as seen on the EVM into AGND, DGND, 48V GND?

Thank you and best regards,

Ambroise

  • Hi Ambroise,

Yes, you can connect those gnd nodes, especially analog gnd(AGND) and digital gnd(DGND) for PGA2505 should keep the same potential to avoid the violation for the abs.max rating.

While, it is not necessary to connect 48V GND and other gnds. In my understanding, 48V phantom supply gnd is typically isolated to signal gnds (AGND and DGND) due to noise isolation.
