TAS2505-Q1: How to implement short and open load diagnostic

Part Number: TAS2505-Q1

Dear team,

Last month I asked the same question(the link is https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio/f/6/t/943531).

The customer feedbacks that the output(SPKM/ SPKP) still have PWM signal(50% duty cycle) when they use page 1/register 48. Because of the PWM signal, they can't do the diagnostics. When they set page 1/register 45 to power down mode, SPKM/ SPKP has no output signals. Under this condition, if the speaker is connected, the A point voltage is 1.12V. If the speaker is not connected, the A point voltage is 0V. Therefore we should change page 1/register 45 instead of page 1/register 48  in the first step, right?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • Hi, Sherry,

This is correct. The Page 1 / Register 48 is used to mute the device. There will be still a Class-D activity (PWM output) at 50%. By the other hand,  the Page 1 / Register 45 powers down completely the Class-D driver, resulting in not output signals.

The customer should use register 45 instead of 48 as you correctly mentioned. Sorry for the misunderstanding in my previous post.

Let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
