PCM1808-Q1: BCK in slave mode

Part Number: PCM1808-Q1

Hello,

My customer was wondering the BCK in slave mode from the description on page 14 in the datasheet which says :

Slave mode
In slave mode, BCK and LRCK work as input pins. The PCM1808-Q1 accepts 64-BCK/frame or 48-BCK/frame
format (only for a 384-fS system clock), not 32-BCK/frame format.

Does it mean

256fs : 64-BCK/frame is supported.

384fs : 64-BCK/frame and 48-BCK/frame are supported

512fs : 64-BCK/frame is supported

Or does it mean

256fs : 32-BCK/frame is supported.

384fs : 64-BCK/frame and 48-BCK/frame are supported

512fs : 32-BCK/frame is supported

  • Hi Kawasaki-san,

I apologize for the delay in answering. Your first interpretation is correct. The modulator is a 24-bit output and the device does not support 16-bit operation. Because it is a stereo device this means at least 48 BCK/frame are required and 32 BCK/frame is not possible because this would mean the modulator would have to output 16-bit, which it cannot be configured to do. We do have other devices in the PCM180x family that output 16-bit if needed.

    Best,

    Zak
