TAS5754MDCAEVM: Dev board compatible with Rev D PPPCMB?

Part Number: TAS5754MDCAEVM

Is the TAS5754 development board compatible with the PPCMB Rev D?  I have an older PPCMB that was used with the TAS5760 amp dev board.  Plugged in the TAS5754  amp dev board and only some of the features are working.  Dynamic EQ and PBE do not work.  Volume controls work Ok.    Using PPC2.  When starting the program I get the below error. Selecting "connect as TAS5754"then sw communicates with the PPCMB. The following screen shows the TAS5754 features but the firmware shows TAS5760.  Do I need a newer PPCMB or can I update the firmware on the PPCMB? If firmware can be updated what is the process?

Best

  • Hi Glen,

Do you have a later version Motherboard to have a try? I just don't have a D version on hand...

I was thinking the different versions of motherboard should be compatible with each other...

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Sam

  • Thanks Sam

I ordered the latest version of the PPCMB.   Is it possible to update the firmware on the ReV D PPCMB?

    Regards

    Glen

  • Hi Glen,

Yes, please give it a try with newer PPCMB.

I don't think firmware could be updated to make it a newer version.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Sam

I received the revG PPCMB board.    I plugged the inthe TAS5754-56 eavl module.  I have the same issue  as with the older PPCMB.  Volume controls and input selection work fine.  None of the advanced processing features are functional.     I am using Purepath V2.    Below is the process is followed.......

Attach USB cable and power up amp module with 18Vdc. Start Purepath on windows 7 PC  Purepath asks to manually select Target.  I select the TAS5457 module.

As the SW connects to the board I get a FW warning

I select connect as TAS5754 and the SW connects to the PPCMB.  I select the source input and a hybrid flow per below.

The system passes audio  and volume controls work as expected.   The I go to the biquad set-up.  I add a filter that will have very obvious effect on the audio output. There is no to change to audio output. Are the changes in the EQ reflected live or is there an additional step required to send the changed EQ to the amp?   The same problem with the other processing features...DRC, bass enhancement,....ect. Changes in purepath are not reflected in audio output.

One other issue to note is the FWID  screen.  Is this correct?  Please let me know if I have installed something incorrectly or missing something in the set-up process. Many Thanks

  • Hi,

I've used a Rev G motherboard to take a try and it works just well for me.

One point is, you need to click the green arrow(top right) to load the settings into the device. Did you do like this?

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Sam

  • Thanks Sam

Restarted computer and demo board. Clicking the green arrow and all is working.

    Many Thanks
