CDCI6214: CDCI6214 I2C SDA always pulled down

Part Number: CDCI6214

Hi, We meet same problem, it is found that if EEPROM is written multiple times, SCL is pull up, while SDA will be permanently pulled down.

We float EEPROM and REFSEL pin, it works on fallback mode.

SDA pin is still pulled down, Is the chip died? Is there any method to wake it up?

  • Hello,

If the device can still enter fall back mode, can you overwrite the EEPROM in fall back mode? Or SDA pin is pulled down even in fallback mode? If that's the case then it's more likely there's a strong pull down on the board.

    Regards,
    Hao

  • It can not be enter fall back mode again. we only connected scl pin ,  sda pin, and  gnd to a three pin header, we make refsel and eepromsel pin floating(it means it works on fall back mode), but the sda is pull down.

CLK_I2C_SCL and CLK_I2C_SDA is floating, we program the register and eeprom through the three pin header.

  • Hello,

Can you remove the pull up resistor for SDA pin, power off the board and measure its resistance to ground? It's either a board level problem or the chip has been damaged, because I can't think of anything inside the chip that can pull down (or even short the SDA pin).

    Regards,
    Hao
