LMK04832: About SYSREF

Part Number: LMK04832

Hi,

Does "LOCAL" in the figure below mean that each board can use the sysref inside the board to align the phases of the JESD links between the boards?

Thanks

  • Hi Applo,

In the multi-device sync approach, there are various options to generate and distribute the SYSREF from secondary (slave) devices to data converters/FPGAs. Once the secondary LMKs are synchronized, SYSREF can be generated and controlled from secondary device itself (called "Local") or controlled from primary (master) device (re-clocked by Master).

So the term "Local" means, the SYSREF is generated and controlled output from secondary device itself.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Can "Local" sysrefs enable multiple DAC/ADCs (using sysrefs provided by different secondary LMKs) to have deterministic in-phase outputs?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Applo,
Yes, once secondary LMK04832 devices are synchronized Sysrefs will be generated from secondary devices only and can be by configured to in phase outputs.
