CDCE72010 EVM Windos 7 64-bit driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE72010

Hello,

unfortunately I got a new PC which is running with Windows 7 64-bit. Having installed the CDCE72010 Control GUI v1.2.8 the USB driver is not working. Tool -> Force USB Driver Install comes with Error 5.

Is a driver available?

Thanks a lot,
Harald

  • Hi Harald,

I may be able to send you a new version of the GUI very soon that can support 64-bit. Let me look into this and get back to you shortly.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Matt and Harald,

Sorry to come into your discussion but I would also be very interested to get a new version of the CDCE72010 GUI for W7-64bit.

Would you mind to keep me in the loop?

    Thanks and best regards,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

I have windows 7 and the CDCE72010 is running without a problem. You just need Virtual PC. Please find detailed instructions in the pdf attached.

  • Hi,

Thanks a lot for the tip but unfortunately I'm using CDCE72010 GUI in offline mode.

My CDCE72010 is only connected on one of our board and configured by  our software via a FPGA. I have no way to connect it to my computer.

The main issue of the Gui is that the display doesn't show any information on internal clock frequencies, In/out buffer type, etc etc. From one to another settings file, it's pretty difficult to see what has been set

    Lets see:

If you have any clue to make the GUI in a "offline" mode, it would be really great.

    Thanks again.

  • Has the 64bit driver become available yet?

    Thanks.

  • Hi David,

Yes, here is the latest version which includes an installer for 64bit systems. We hope to release this to the web by end-of-year. 2330.scac100b.zip

Also, here is the 64-bit driver if you want to continue using the version of the GUI you have: 3733.CDCE72010_64bit_Driver.zip

    Matt

  • I had just kept using my XP laptop until now, but now I have installed this from your link.

I see some GUI bugs I had pointed out in other posts here are fixed, but also some useful features are missing.  There is now no Divider START DETERM-Block function.  Why has that been removed?

It's now Feb2012 but I still don't see where this has been released, other than the 'secret' link given above.

On the good side it did install and work fine on my Win 7 64b PC.

I do have to run as admin to avoid a file access error message.

    Thanks.

  • Hi David,

Sorry for the slow response. I know the Divider Start Determ window was removed, but I think this might only be because there are TI reserved bits featured in this window and it was reasoned that the SPI register window can be used for these settings. Based on your feedback, it might be good to add this back if user's find the GUI diagram more helpful.

There has been a delay in the official release. We have a couple more items to finish implementing on the loop filter tool and we hope to get this release as soon as our software developer has the bandwidth.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Yes it's quite useful and the functional diagram shown under that button is not to be found elsewhere.

I'm not sure how removing it and having me bit twiddle for these selection protects your reserved bits.  I might just twiddle the reserved bits while I'm twiddling the others anyway, so where is the protection?

I vote to put it back in, and you can grey out the reserved bit selections if you want.  That's how it's usually done.

    Thanks.

Yes, here is the latest version which includes an installer for 64bit systems. We hope to release this to the web by end-of-year. (Please visit the site to view this file)

That was back in 2011.  It's been 4+ years but I don't see an update of this version released yet.  I'm looking back at this now since we want to streamline our production programming of this part.  Is any further release of this SW likely to happen?

    Thanks.

  • Is there also a version required to work for Win10 64b? I would think the same one that works for Win7 64b should work, but I get an unknown USB device error stating the device is stopped because the request for device descriptor failed.
  • Don't hold your breath David, there seems to be no SW development on this product any longer. Al...
  • Yes you are probably right.  We're probably lucky to have gotten the several versions we did 2 years ago.  Too bad.  It's an impressive part for what we are doing.
