TLC555: One shot pulse accuracy

Part Number: TLC555
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC1G123

I am trying to understand the pulse width accuracy for the TLC555 at Vcc=5V.  I tried using the Vit (Threshold voltage) range stated in the datasheet (2.7 MIN to 3.9 MAX), but results show the timer to be unusable,  An 18% error in threshold which yields a much higher error in pulse width due to the exponential charging from 0V to the threshold.  A simple resistor divider internal to the part sets the threshold so it should be very accurate.  What am I missing??
