LMX2582: Differential output to CML input of HMC744 buffer

Part Number: LMX2582
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX1204,

Tool/software:

Hi,

The TI suggested LMX1204 is big for the layout and the input voltage is also different to the current design.

So, if I need to stick to HMC744 per our last discussion, I understand power of PLL can be adjusted to be within 2Vpp differential (i.e. 1Vpp of SE = 4dBm = OUTx_PWR to '10' for 50-ohm load) to match the differential swing.

  • But can the output of PLL map to the Input voltage range requirement of the buffer (1.8V to 3.8V)?
  • Buffer requires an AC/DC coupling. To translate differential output of LMX2582 to CML, which termination/coupling scheme needs to be used?

Thanks
