TLC555-Q1: Do we have reference circuit for open loop Flyback application based on PWM generator built by TLC555 ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC555-Q1, TLC555

Tool/software:

Hi Teams,

I have heard from customer that they have heard from the market that there's a very low cost open loop flyback solution based on TLC555-Q1, in which TLC555-Q1 act as the pwm generator, do you have reference circuit to recommend? or any info related to this use case are welcomed!

Marsh

  • Hi Marsh,

Yes we have seen customer solutions that do this - basically the customer can set up the TLC555 to generate a PWM signal, the output of the 555 drives a MOSFET gate, then the MOSFET switches the primary side of the transformer.  Really the only thing the TLC555-Q1 does is create a basic PWM signal.  We do have material about how to use the 555 timer in PWM mode, actually there's a section in the data sheet that shows it:

Unfortunately, we don't have any additional collateral to support the implementation with the full converter.
