That's a general rule of thumb.
According to datasheets's table 7.6 Electrical Characteristics:
XO input characteristics - Single-ended input voltage swing must be between 1 and 2.6V peak to peak

The outputs of lvcmos do not have a constant impedance.
The impedance can be estimated by examining the vo and io.
But Io high is not the same as Io low and neither is Vo h/l, hence it is driven by different transistors.
Assumed that it will be around 20-30 ohm and to get 50 ohm an 33 ohm resistor is added (can be changed afterwards)
