LMX2571EVM: Output waveform distortion

Dear Team,

I am working with LMX2571EVM. With TICSPro, I am varying the output signal frequencies. Everytime I am getting a non-perfect pulse with slight ringing. I have attached the images for your reference. Please let me know the cause for this.

Hi There,

Ringing is normal.

Synthesizer is not a digital device, it is not design to generate square wave clock, especially at low frequencies.

If you application is at these frequencies, consider to use clock generator such as CDCE9xx and CDCE6214.

Hi Noel,

LMX2571 support frequencies in the range 10 MHz to 1344 MHz. So when you say low frequency , what does that mean? At what frequencies do you think that the ringing will be removed.?

Hi There,

LMX2571 is a synthesizer intended for RF communication. Users are interested in the frequency domain signal purity (such as phase noise, spurs) rather than the time domain waveform.

if your application needs square wave clock, the clock devices I suggested are recommended.

Is CDCE6214 is fixed frequency clock generator? or Is it possible to vary the frequency through commands?
