TLC555: Need help with identifying marking

Part Number: TLC555

Good morning team.

We have reviewed the TI datasheet for TLC555QD and can only identify that parts should be marked TLC555Q. Can you please help advise what the second  line TI49M is and the third line on the front OAEZ8, then on the back of the part there are markings of 3C415 etc. Our end customer is inquiring if this marking is correct for the parts ordered. Addtionally they would like confirmation that these parts are not made with the TI logo on the front. Thanks for your help

  • Hello Melissa,

Yes. the markings are correct. There has been a TI-wide change to how the devices are marked. The logo has changed to "TI".

    Design 25/Feb/2022 (PCN)

"TI" is the replacement for the logo.

"49" is the datecode, last digit of the year (4) and month (9) = 2024 Sept

"M" is the assembly site code (Mexico)

AEZ8 is the internal 4 character lot code - I assume the "O" is the pin 1 dot

The "3C415" are tooling/mold markings and only have meaning to the assembly site.

I did not find that particular lot code. What is the full orderable part number you used and can you double-check the lot code (or send a picture).

  • Hi Paul- thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. The TI portal is not letting me upload a photo of the part for some reason. I can confirm that it is for sure AEZ8 marked on the front of the part. If you have an email, I can send the part marking to, I would be happy to send over.

  • Hi Melissa,

Pasting images seems to be broken in some browsers, particularly Firefox. You need to right-click and select paste - Ctl-V does not work.

Try Chrome or Edge, or I can contact you directly at your registered email address.

I also need the full orderable - Such as TLC555QDR or TLC555QDRG4 -  that saves me a lot of time.

Do you have the reel or box label?

  • Hi Paul- Yes, I can share that we ordered TLC555QDR. I have photos of the reels and the C of C. If you can send me an email directly, I will send you all that information. Thanks

  • Hello Melissa,

Is there a background performance or electrical test issue that lead to asking the original question about markings?

  • Hi Ron, Yes, parts are failing in the field. Our RMA team is going to be submitting a formal request for RMA to have a FA completed on the parts- customer inquired on the marking for verification when parts were failing. Parts from this shipment were removed and replaced with parts from another shipment and worked fine.

  • Melissa,

It is helpful to lead with this information to get quickest resolution.

The part top date "49" and assembly site "M" will be PCN 20231130002.1 where process and design of TLC555 was changed.

RMA and FA are unnecessary, please describe in detail what issue is deemed a failure.

See this e2e FAQ to see differences the PCN creates.  [FAQ] TLC555: performance differences PCN 20231130002.1

Also note that another PCN (20260217004.1) is coming that will eliminate nearly all the differences seen in e2e FAQ. 2nd PCN is a design tweak to better match original TLC555. The sample request window is open for this PCN. I recommend requesting sample to test.
