LMK04610: Configuring default settings for evaluating the LMK04610 does not work.

Part Number: LMK04610

Hi,

The default configuration for the LMK04610 EVM does not seem to be working. Actually the only thing that seem to be working is VXCO, cause I can read the OSCout. I am trying the just test the default configuration. Not even doing custum settings. Followed the user guide to the letter, nothing. Tried some custim settings, nothing. Read the datasheet about the sequencing tried every operation mode, nothing. The TICS software writes to the board, and it responds, at least when it comes to configuring the OSCout. But everything else absolutlely nothing.

Can anybody help in this matter.

With kind regards,

Gianfranco Schwengle

  • Hello Gianfranco,

I want to make sure: did you remember to write a 1 to the DEV_STARTUP register (0x11[0]) after loading the register settings? On the "Generic" page of the LMK04610 GUI, there is a button labeled "Device Start" which will perform this write.

If that does not work, can you enable readback on your EVM by setting STASUS[1] to output SPI readback, and run the normal startup sequence (User Controls -> toggle RESETN, Write All Registers, Generic -> Device Start), then attempt to read back the Silicon Identification values or the Status Bits to confirm that the part is functioning correctly?

    Regards,

  • Hello Derek,

Yes I did write 1 to the DEV_STARTUP register (0x11). Still nothing happens, except that OSCout outputs the clock signal of the VCXO. Even though according to the default config it should be powerdown. I have tried what you suggested. If by silicon identification you mean the vendor ID, that is 518, and from the status bits I get 0x03. So PLL1/2_LOCK_DETECT are high.

    Regards.

  • Hello Gianfranco,

Can you please save the TCS file you are using and post it to E2E? I would like to double-check the settings you have against the board I have configured in the lab right now. I loaded the EVM defaults in our lab and I did get the expected outputs, so I can compare the configuration that works here against the one that does not work for you.

    Regards,

  • Hello Derek,

Here is the TICS file that I am using. This is just the default config file.

  • Hello Gianfranco,

Thanks for uploading the tcs file. I can load it on my lab setup without issue, and I don't see any differences that would result in the behavior you described.

In the upper-right corner of the PCB, there should be a designator labeled "SV601196" which may be followed by some additional characters. As an example, my EVM has SV601196B-001 What are these characters (if present) on your board?

    Regards,

  • Hello Darek,

The designator label is "SV601196B-001". If you tried the tcs file and it works. I suspect mine board might have become a dud. I only get OSCout, I have tried different configuration, also, different power configuration  and stilll nothing from the output.

    Regards,

    Gianfranco
