LMX2594: LMX2594 frequency hopping time so long

Dear TI,

This is engineer from disty Arrow, before I recommended my customer to use LMX2594 in new design, they have bought the demo and test OK, now they have a question about frequency hopping time, now the time is 60us, customer need it to be 30us, do you have any advice? Or if needed please contact me by mail: derek.zhong@arrow.com.

Hello Derek,

The time it takes for the LMX2594 to settle at the next frequency depends on many factors, these are outlined in this app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snaa336/snaa336.pdf?ts=1591063623221.

At a high level your options are to decrease the calibration time, increase your SPI speed or increase the LBW to decrease analog lock time.

You can simulate the VCO calibration time and analog lock time in the PLLatinumSim software: http://www.ti.com/tool/PLLATINUMSIM-SW.
