ADS1191: Signal sampling problem

Part Number: ADS1191

Hi

We are using ADS1191 to get ECG signal. We have the similar problem with this thread:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters-group/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/605796/ads1191-sample-signal-issue?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch

(1) set CH1SET=0x05, CONFIG2=0xE3, get the signal 1Hz 1mV test waveform and that is correct.

(2) but set CH1SET=0x00, CONFIG2=0xE0, The input is from one ECG simulator. there is no ECG wave but only get the noise.

(3) we also try the following thread to change the values of parts and test , but still no obvious wave.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters-group/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/432141/ads1191-electrodes-connection?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=ADS1191#

Is there anything else we have to do?

Thanks and regards

  • Hi Thomas,

Welcome to the E2E forum !!!

I do not see any issue with the schematic that may lead failure to acquire the ECG waveform from the ECG simulator. For debug, you can set the ECG simulator waveform to the maximum amplitude of 4mV for best signal integrity. You can also provide an external signal to CH1 input (E1 and E2) and see if you can see waveform correctly. A significant powerline noise may obscure the ECG waveform from the simulator from the capture data. You may want to look at the frequency spectrum of the data and see if you eliminate any powerline noise with a digital filter. The CH1SET and CONGIG4 registers setting for the ECG simulator input is fine.

Do you have the ADS1x9xECG-FE Demonstration Kit for verification?

    Thanks

  • Hi, Tc,

Thanks for your confirmation of schematic and advise. We'll try again.

BTW, we have no demo kit yet. Maybe we consider to have one later.

    regards
