DAC121S101: Operating junction temperature range

Part Number: DAC121S101

Dear team,

The operating ambient temp range of DAC121S101(SOT-23) is -40~105.

But I can't find the operating junction temp range. Is it same with the operating ambient temp range?

Please let me know the operating junction temp range of DAC121S101 and DAC121S101-Q1(SOT-23 package).

Thank you.

  • Hi Dino,

I do not have data for the max junction temperature.  We do have power limits in the abs. max. table, so my assumption is that max Tj would be max Ta+thermal power in the device.  As long as the maximum power and maximum TA temperature are not being violated, then the customer is operating the device in the specified conditions.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you for your comment. Please review below questions.

    1. I can't find power limits in the abs.max.table as you mentioned. Please let me know your opinion.

    2. As you can see at below datasheet, we can see "The absolute maximum junction temperature (TJMAX) for this device is 150°C."

Can we see this data as operating max junction temp?

    3. And please let me know your opinion regarding the way of calculating power dissipation for DAC121S101.

My customer test result is 100 C(Top side temp) under 70 C ambient temp. I don't know where power is dissipated.

This is why they want to know max junction temp.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Dino,

    1. I use the footnote (3) to calculate the max power as Pmax = VDDmax × Imax = 6.5V ×20mA = 130mW.

    2. The abs. max. TJ is 150°C.  Please use that value.  My point is that I do not think the device will be able to achieve 150°C when TA is limited to 125°C and max power is 130mW.

    3. Can they measure the current consumption by the device?

    Thanks,

    Paul
