ADS7066: Calibration Process

Part Number: ADS7066

Hi Team,

Can you provide a little bit more information on the ADC Offset Calibration function on the ADS7066?

Are there any expected input conditions that we need to hold when we initiate the offset calibration, or is it an internally-muxed function? Is there an estimated time it takes for the calibration process to complete?

Regards,

RJ

  • Hi RJ,

The built-in calibration in ADS7066 allows the microcontroller to minimise the offset error on the ADS7066. It is recommended to run the calibration at least once after device power-up after the supplies and reference voltages have stabilised. The ADC offset calibration can be initiated using the CAL bit in GENERAL_CFG register.

The ADS7066 disconnects the internal sampling capacitor from the analog inputs and connects it to an internal calibration voltage. The calibration process takes less than 32us and the CAL bit is cleared to 0 by the ADC at the end of calibration. There is no specific requirement on the voltage at the analog inputs during calibration.

    I hope this helps.
