ADS1298R: Switched from ADS1299 to ADS1298R. Performance is significantly poor.

Part Number: ADS1298R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299, ADS1298,

 Hi,

We recently moved to ADS1298 from ADS1299 due to availability issues. Because of that, SNR performance of our design has become significantly worst. (We have seen reduction of almost 100% in SNR)

1. I rechecked hardware but could not find anything, all voltage level of all pins seems correct. Please take a look at attached picture to see the schematics design.

2. On the firmware side we are using same firmware as ADS1299 with updated gain of 12 as ADS1298 does not support previous gain of 24. Config-2 and config-3 registers were changed as follow; config2_setting = 0b11000000;
config3_setting = 0b11101100; Is there anything else that needed to be changed on firmware side?

  • Hi,

    May I ask what might be your product and its applications?

    ADS1298R was mainly designed for ECG application. ADS1298R and ADS1299 are not 100% exactly compatible. Many things e.g. hardware and firmware may need to be changed to adapt from one to the other.

    Have you used an ADS1298R evaluation kit/board(EVM) to do some preliminary tests&evaluation&Data collection&analysis? It's highly recommended to do so.

    The screenshots attached to be very low resolution and difficult to read. Could you provide screenshots with much higher/better resolution?

    In the meantime, you may compare your schematic design with ADS1298R EVM schematic available on TI's website.

    I will reach out to you regarding to the shortage and supply issue with ADS1299.

    Thanks
