DAC7678PW

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC7678

Hello,

I am writing device drivers for the DAC and am having problems with the power-down command. There seems to be a discrepancy in the datasheet (Aug. 2010 rev.) between the register description on page 32 and the example command sequence on page 37. Example 2 shows a command that sets DAC channels B, C, and H to the hi-Z state. However, looking at Table 17 showing the control matrix, channels A, F, and G are being powered down. I also have problems when trying to power down other channels. Could you confirm the Control matrix in Table 17 for the power-down channels?

Thanks,

Daryl B.

  • Hi Daryl,

I see the confliction in the DAC7678 datasheet that is giving you trouble. I will contact the designer and get back to you regarding the validity of table 17. I would trust the table more than the example. When I get an answer I will request to get the datasheet corrected.

Regarding your issue with powering down other channels could you give me more information on the problem your facing? Are the channels you're powering down not matching up with the power down register in table 17?

    Regards,
    Chris

  • Daryl,

I got confirmation from the designer on this issue. The example on page 37 is correct. Table 17 is incorrect. The DAC channels are listed in the reverse order.

The correct power down control matrix on page 32 should be as pictured below:

I would also think that reading the power-down register as shown in table 18 would be in the same order as writing to the register.  I am working on having this error corrected in the datasheet. Thank you for pointing it out!

    Best regards,
    Chris
