ADS1298ECGFE-PDK: ESD diodes used in ADS1298ECGFE-PDK

Part Number: ADS1298ECGFE-PDK

Hi,

What is the footprint of D1 to D10 which are not mounted on PCB of ADS1298ECGFE-PDK plz?
It would be great to know potential part number of D1 to D10 which can be used for +3V AVDD system.

Is there PCB file available for Altium?

  • Hi,

Those are ESD or TVS diodes provision and place holder for users to select their own based on their needs in case they want to do some tests.

TI doesn't have suggest parts for it.

All the available source files that are allowed to disclosed/shared are already on TI's website.

    Thanks

  • Hi

    It seems like SOT-23 footprint.
I'm planning to use BAS40-04-G for D3,D4,D7,D9 and D10 (on RL, LA, LL, RLD AND V1).

Is there any precautions needed with regards to Lead-OFF detection or Power supply selection?

I'm planning to use the default 6nA current source for DC LEAD OFF detection.

    Please advice.

  • Hi,

Those are ESD or TVS diodes provision are place holders for users to select their own based on their needs in case they want to do some tests.

TI cannot suggest those parts for the end product as eventually it will affect any standards, regulations and/or certification the product needs to pass and/or comply, and we are not standards, regulations and/or certification experts.

Customers will need to decide and determine those peripheral parts and design with the regulatory, QA, QC teams to meet any standards or requirements.
    Thanks

  • Hi
We are not planning to attach the Dev-kit to a real patient /human or doing through regulatory testing.
And I understand your concern regarding patient safety and regulation, where you do not want to make any recommendation.

However, the query is regarding understanding if adding a steering diodes like BAS40-04-G effects LEAD OFF detection functionality or not.
Because these details are not clear from Datasheet or any other application notes/documentation. It only has brief info about AC and DC LEAD OFF but not detailed block diagram of how it's implemented.

  • Hi,

customers will need to test it out throughout experiments, tests, A/B tests, data collection&analysis and comparison to observe whether there is any difference before making decision.

Datasheet doesn't list or show ESD/TVS diodes because it's not necessary part for ADS to acquire ECG signal or lead off detection. So, it leaves customers options to decide whether and what to use for TVS/ESD diodes and will need to do the above mentioned tests before making final decisions.

Also, we are not TVS/ESD diodes experts, so we have limited knowledge to comment or suggest on ESD/TVS diodes for product development.

    Thanks
