DAC8771EVM: Clarification about DAC8771EVM documentation (SLAU727 - August 2017)

Part Number: DAC8771EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC8771

Dear Team,

I've following question about the DAC8771EVM - August 2017, thanks for your attention.

- Page 4 Table 3 regarding JP14 settings, table report same statements for Installed and Not Installed, may be a typo, from DAC8771 dataheet (SLASEE2 - February 2018 page 42 paragraph 8.4.5.1) if LDAC is set LOW seems to me that the mode has to be Asynchronous, so if JP14 is Not Installed the mode can be Synchronous if driving is accordling as written into the DAC8771 datasheet paragraph 8.4.5.2, I'm right?

- Page 6, Paragraph 2.4.3 DVDD Supply "...When using the SM-USB-DIG as the DVDD supply, uninstall jumper JP10 and install jumpers JP15 and JP15...." should be changed to "...When using the SM-USB-DIG as the DVDD supply, uninstall jumper JP10 and install jumpers JP15 and JP16....", Iìm right?

Thanks for your support!

Best regards

FF

  • FF,

For LDAC jumpered to ground at JP14, you are correct. With LDAC set low, you are using asynchronous mode, where the device is latched with /SYNC. With JP14 open, you can connect a signal to LDAC to use the synchronous mode. The descriptions are in the datasheet and you are correct.

You are also correct on the external DVDD. Removing the jumper at JP10 disconnects bulk capacitance, while installing jumpers J15 and J16 disables the internal DVDD driver, and connects the DVDD to the SM-USB-DIG.
