TLA2024: Read 60Hz Voltage with TLA2024

Part Number: TLA2024
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1015

Are there any recommended settings to read a 60Hz signal with TLA2024?

  • Hi Brian,

Welcome to the E2E forum!  The TLA2024 is a Delta-Sigma oversampling ADC with a low-pass digital filter.  It also uses an I2C interface, so to get an accurate representation of an AC waveform is somewhat difficult using this device as you would need to capture every sample in a continuous and contiguous way.  The input voltage needs to be within the input range of the ADC which is between VDD and GND.  The required data output rate needs to be at least 2 times the input frequency to be captured (Nyquist).

You might want to consider using the ADS1015 which also has the capability to trigger a RDY signal to know when the conversion has completed and is ready to be read out of the device.

    Best regards,
