ADS112C04: Oversampling and multiplexing

Part Number: ADS112C04

Hi ADC experts,

When using ADS112C04 in "continuous conversion mode", it says "In continuous conversion mode, the ADC automatically begins a conversion of the input signal as soon as the previous conversion is completed."

Will it stay on a single channel, oversampling, then move to the next channel?

Or, sample one time, then move on to next channel, then accumulated data will go through oversampling calculation?

Thanks,

Luke

  • Hello Luke,

The ADS112C04 does not have an autoscan feature for the mux.  In other words, the ADC will stay converting the selected mux position until the a register write changes the mux inputs.

Each conversion result stands on its own, that is each conversion result does not take into account any modulator data from the preceding conversion.  When switching mux channels in a middle of a conversion period, the digital filter is reset and restarts the conversion.

    Best regards,
