ADS1298ECGFE-PDK: Default registers config for connecting through an ECG simulator and removing noise

Part Number: ADS1298ECGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

I am currently in the testing phase of using the ADS1298ECGFE-PDK with a 12-lead ECG simulator. During this phase, I am encountering several issues related to register configuration, noise, and other aspects that I am still learning about.

To begin, I successfully generated test signals which were functioning properly. However, upon connecting the ECG simulator and initiating data acquisition, I noticed that the data from the Limbs and Augmented leads were slightly better in quality compared to the Chest leads. There was some noise present in the acquired data. I attempted to mitigate this issue by applying a 50Hz Notch filter, but unfortunately, the noise persisted.

I have attached images of the waveform and the registers for reference.

1. Are the registers config correct?

2. Can you share the register configuration that works for a standard ECG simulator?

3. How can I remove the noise from the signal? I went through the guide SBAA188 - Improving Common-Mode Rejection Using the Right-Leg Drive Amplifier, is it still applicable while using an ECG simulator?

4. CONFIG2 register, In datasheet reset value as 40h. but after reading the registers in ADS1298/8R EVM Evaluation software the bit is zero and cannot be changed. What should be the value there or it can be ignored?
