DAC39J84: DAC39J84: JTAG IEEE 1149.1 Boundary-scan not working

Part Number: DAC39J84

Hi

I'm trying to use the boundary-scan on the DAC39J84, but once the TAP set ins sample mode, the DAC stop sending data (see logic analyzer result below).

I'm able the set the tap in BYPASS or IDCODE mode and get the right IDCODE value.

I'm using the .bsdl file I found on texas instrument forum for the DAC38J84 and simply rename the part name.

I test the JTAG on multiple board equipped with DAC39J84, repeating the same issue.

This post mention DAC89J84 use IEEE1500.

Is it possible to do boundary-scan on DAC39J84 using IEEE1149.1 ?

Is it normal I can't set the TAP in SAMPLE mode ?

Is the .BSDL file correct ?

Thanks for the help.

  • Hi Venu,

The DAC3xJ8x device family only supports IEEE1500 JTAG. The BSDL file will not have been updated either so this would still be the latest version. Regarding the TAP while in boundary scan mode, does this help at all? Once you are in boundary scan mode it seems like the only way to exit is to toggle TRST or to issue the 8'b01011010 instruction.

    Thanks, Chase
