ADS131M08: ADS131M08 EMC tests

Part Number: ADS131M08
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , ADS124S08

Hi

One of my customer is planning to use ADS131M08  in  EV application .

They  are looking for ADS131M08-Q1 for certain voltage sensing circuitry.

They  need to pass their product the various EMC testing as below

  1. Bulk current injection - 150 mA at various frequencies
  2. Radiation Immunity at 200 V/m from 200 MHZ to 2 GHZ range.
  3. On board transmitter test till 10 W net power at different MHZ frequency ranges.

External filter and protection circuit will be considered as per TIs guidelines.

I would like to know  whether ADC IC is robust enough to work in such stringent field environment  Or any other recommndation if ADS131M0 is not suitable here ..

  • Hi Dilip,

EMC testing is system level test and the test result is highly related to the system design including proper protection circuity, PCB layout design and so on. ADS131M0X ADC including ADS131M08 is widely used by many customer in different industrial and automotive applications including EV. BCI test is a continuous RF immunity test that injects a modulated signal using a current injection probe onto cables in an effort to replicate EMI stress in the anticipated environment, I did not do EMC test with a design based on ADS131M08 yet, but I have done EMC tests on other Delta-sigma ADCs (ADS124S08) and I achieved a very good result for EFT, Surge, Radiation Immunity and Conducted Immunity test where current injection probes were used. I can help the customer and provide my feedback and advice if they would share their design with me.

Lastly, can you please provide the customer name in the "Notes" field of Thread Tracking Toolkit above? thanks.

    Best regards,

    Dale
