DAC43204: Looking for device with Vref= about 2V

Part Number: DAC43204

Hi all,

I would like to select the device with internal voltage reference is about 2V.

The DAC43204 has an internal voltage reference of 1.21 V.

Do you have a recommended precision DAC with Vref= about 2V with the following specifications?

[specifications]

Resolution : 8bits

Number of channel : 4

IF : I2C, SPI

Features : Small size, Low cost, internal voltage reference

Best Regards,

Ryusuke

  • Hi Fukunaga-san,

The DAC43204 has an internal 1.21V internal reference with gain options of 1.5x, 2x, 3x, and 4x.

You can use the 2x gain option to get a 2.42 internal reference (or 1.5x for 1.8V ref). If you only need a 2V full scale range you can consider using a higher resolution variant of this device to maintain 8-bits of resolution for 2V full scale with the 2.4V reference.

Most of our other DACs use a 2.5V or 5V internal reference, so I still think this would be the best choice.

  • Hi Katlynne,

    How do I change Vref?

I understand that it can be changed in the register.

Is it okay and is there any other way?

  • Hi Fukunaga-san,

You are correct. Select the reference for each channel in the VOUT-GAIN-X field for each respective channel. They do not all need to use the same reference.

If you are using the internal reference, make sure to power on the internal reference in the EN-INT-REF field of the COMMON-CONFIG register first:
