DAC348x_GUI_v3p8.vi and DAC34SH84 configuration

Hello everybody,

I was following the steps in DAC348x EVM manual:

testing with TSM1400.
The DAC I am using is DAC34SH84 EVM and at 3.4 DAC348x Example Setup Procedure, I provided clock input of 1474.56MHz with output power of 10 dBm and on DAC348x_GUI_v3p8.vi, I set EVM platform on the software menu to DAC34H84/SH84 and pressed SW1 DAC RESET button and pressed RESET USB PORT on GUI. When I pressed LOAD REGS and opened 'DAC34SH84_FDAC_1474p56MHz_4xint_NCO_30MHz_QMCon' file I am keep getting the error below.

There was an error loading the CDCM7005 configuration registers. Please check the file format.

When I opened the file, the context of the file was:

What is wrong with the file?

Steps I followed

1. Open DAC348x_GUI_v3p8.vi
2. Change EVM platform to DAC34H84/SH84
3. Press SW1 DAC RESET on the PCB
4. Press RESET USB PORT on GUI
5. Press LOAD REGS and open 'DAC34SH84_FDAC_1474p56MHz_4xint_NCO_30MHz_QMCon'
6. Get error saying 'There was an error loading the CDCM7005 configuration registers. Please check the file format.'

Hi Min Chul Shin

The procedure you followed is correct and this error is not expected. Can you restart the software and run again as administrator and let me know if this error occurs. What operating system are you using?

I restarted the software but I am getting the same error again. The operating system I am using is Windows 7 Professional.

Hi Min Chul,
I was able to replicate this error. The problem is that because the configuration files are stored in the program files folder, Windows 7 does not allow access to it unless the software is run as an administrator. To do this, right click on the shortcut to the software and select "Run as administrator ". You can also go to the folder where the configuration files are stored and copy them to the desktop or My Documents where you will be able to access them without running as an administrator.
