ADS1293EVM: ADS1293EVM: Problems with demo ADS1293EVM installing MSP430

Part Number: ADS1293EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1293

When following the instructions to install the software for the ADS1293EVM from

And following the installation instructions the MSP430 driver update fails. The error message is "Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install.... The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering"

Where do we get working drivers? OR is there a workaround for this.

Thanks,

Derek

  • Hi Derek,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum!

Can you share a screen capture of how the EVM is enumerating in your Device Manager? Do you see this error message when you launch the GUI, or is it a Windows message you see after plugging the board in?

You might have to point the device to the correct drivers after running the installer executable. There are some steps outlined in Section 2.2 of the User Guide (pages 3-4). Also, please confirm that jumpers JP2 and JP3 are installed.

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks for getting back to me.  I am following the ADS1293EVM Users Guide (SNAU138). On page 4 it instructs us to update the MSP430 driver software. When I do this and point it to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\ADS1293\hardware\driver

It says that the "Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install.... The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering"

I have attached a .png of the error message. Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Derek

  • Ryan,

And yes, both jumpers J2 and J3 are installed shorting Batt to 3p3V.

    Thanks,

    Derek
  • Hi Derek,

This seems to be a driver signature enforcement issue with Windows 10. Can you confirm that's the OS you're using? I found an older post that explained this EVM was originally written for Windows 7. If you have access to a Windows 7 PC, can you give that a try and let me know if it works?

We don't have any plans to update the EVM software, so the only option I can see for using it with Windows 10 is to disable the driver signature enforcement before installing the software. There are a few blogs out there that I've found useful, including this one.

    Best Regards,
