ADS1298RECGFE-PDK: ADS1298R EVM Evaluation software stuck in reading registers

Part Number: ADS1298RECGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298R

Hello.

I have just purchased ADS1298R Dev kit, but I have some issues getting it work. I downloaded and installed the ADS1298R EVM Evaluation software. Then I run it, it gets stuck in "Reading Registers". I can't figure out, whats the problem in this case. I have all the jumpers set as they are said in user guide, I did open the j13a/b jumpers on MMB0 board. I also had a chance do borrow the same kit from a colleague, and his set works nicely. I connected his ads129r ECGFE to my MMB0 and it worked also, so I assume the MMB0 board isn't the problem and the problem has to be somewhere on ADS1298R ECGFE board.

I also added a screenshot to illustrate where exactly it gets stuck. The Progress bar increases by 5% about every 20 seconds but even if it reaches 100%, nothing happenes.

Hope you can help me overcome this problem.

  • Hi Elvar,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum!

What you are seeing generally happens when the host DSP on the MMB0 cannot communicate with the ADC on the ADS1298RECGFE board. Can you probe the following voltage supplies and signals to see if the device is still functioning? Try to probe as close to the device pins as possible (i.e. use the surrounding decoupling capacitors or test points). You can do this without running the EVM software. Just apply power to the MMB0.

    1. Supplies:
      1. AVDD, AVSS, DVDD
      2. VREFP
      3. VCAP1
    2. Signals:
      1. /DRDY -> should pulse low at the default data rate = 500 SPS

    Best regards,
