ADC34J44EVM: Coherently clocking multiple boards

Part Number: ADC34J44EVM

Hi

I want to sample 8 channels simultaneously at 125MSPS. If I use two ADC34J44EVM boards for sampling these 8 channels with two TSW14J56EVM boards for data capture, can I make all the 8 channels sample coherently with one computer?

  • Hi Aravind,

Synchronizing and capturing data from multiple ADC34J44s is possible, but I am not certain if we have the firmware available to support this on the EVM. At a first glance, I would assume two capture cards are needed that would need to be triggered simultaneously. You will need to have a synchronized clock source for both EVMs as well (length matched cables).

I will investigate further into the firmware, and get back with you shortly.

    Best Regards,

    Dan

  • Hi Aravind,

I have found a path forward for the 8 channel capture that you have requested, but we will need to do some firmware work on our end.

Here is a list of items that you will need:

    (2) ADC34J44EVMs

    (2) TSW14J56EVMs (two +5V power supplies, at least 4A each)

    (2) Synchronized clock sources for sample clock (with length matched SMA cables). You might be able to use a splitter here if your source has adequate output power.

    (2) SMA cables (length matched) for triggering TSW14J56EVMs data capture.

Let me know once you have these items, and I can move forward with getting the procedure working/documented.

    Best Regards,

    Dan

  • Hi Aravind,

Are you still interested in pursuing multi-EVM synchronization?
