ADS7039-Q1: Input Buffer For Low Speed Data Acquisition

Part Number: ADS7039-Q1

Hi,

I am looking into the application design of ADS7039-Q1, in very low speed(~10SPS) data acquisition system. Some inquiries about the datasheet:

tCONV and tACQ - Does the 'acquisition time' refer to the internal S/H capacitor being connected to AINP/AINM pins, while 'conversion time' states the ADC engine running and S/H cap disconnected from AINP/AINM?

I am asking this because it is feasible to sample a very high impedance source(~10MOhm) with extended tCONV period, without external buffer. Any ideas and suggestion are welcomed!

  • Hello,

What application are you planning on using this for? If you are looking to sample at 10SPS, there are better suited devices for this. What specs were you considering that guided you to the ADS7093?

As for your questions about tCONV and tACQ, your understanding is correct.  But instead of extending conversion time, the acquisition time what should be extended .

With slow moving input signal and low sampling rate it is possible to connect the input directly to the ADC input without a buffer.

    Regards

  • Cynthia,

Thanks for your prompt reply! Yes you are right about the tACQ extension. I would drop a mail later to discuss more.
