Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5816, AFE5828
The datasheet has a specification for D14 and G13 as not to connect.
In the AFE58JD18 EVM, D14 is bypassed to GND with 10uF and G13 is bypassed to Avdd_M with 1uF.
What is correct?
Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
thanks for selecting TI's AFE! TI's AFEs include a whole family parts. these pins are reserved for AFE5816 and AFE5828 devices. Thus one EVM can support multiple AFEs.
please refer to datasheet if you only plan to use AFE58JD18. of course, if you plan to use AFE5816 or AFE5828 , you can follow the EVM design.
Thanks!
Hi Sean,
Thanks for your answer. Will it do "harm" if the capacitors are there in case the AFE58JD18 is used?
Kind Regards,
Ed
Hi Sean,
We are investigating a problem that we have with the upper 8 channels.
The signals shows some strange offset jumps on these channels and there is a strange type of noise (spikes).
We do not know the internal building blocks of the AFE58JD18 but could this somehow be
coupled to internal architecture (for instance, 1..8 is ADC-1 and 9-16 is ADC-2 and ADCs have separate power supply pins)?
Kind Regards,
Ed
Ed,
i see your questions. these coupling caps only related to VGA die and won't affect the ADC perforamnce.
the ADC has a single die, but the digital blocks are seperated to upper 8ch and lower 8ch.
could you please look at the top marking of the chip? the chip has a date code, it shows the manufature date. something like 5xxxx or 6XXXX. could you please provide your email for more discussion since this is a NDA device?
not quite sure if this is a single event or common events. if you need some samples for debug, we are more than happy to provide.
Thanks!
Sean,
How can I provide my E-mail address without publishing it to a worldwide audience?
Thanks,

sounds good. we alreday replied via email. we can exchange more details than the public forum.
