LMK04828BEVM、ADC32RF80EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04828BEVM, ADC32RF80EVM, LMK04828, ADC32RF45EVM, LMX2592, ADC32RF80

I connect the CLKin* of LMK04828BEVM to signal generator and set the frequency to 122.88MHz and connect the DCLKout0 and DCLKout10 to J7 and J5 of ADC32RF80EVM, In TICS pro,set the value of divider to 1 to generate 2949.12MHz,Conect the ChA of ADC32RF80EVM to another signal generator and set the frequency to 1960MHz, followed the steps of ADC32RF80EVM to sample, but the result is wrong, we can't sample our signal. Do we operate it wrong? The voltage of the signal output by  LMK04828BEVM is 36mV,is it too small?

  • Hi user,

Clock signal power is too small for ADC to function if clock is connected from LMK04828 this way. Here single-ended output from LMK is going to balun on ADC32RF45EVM to be converted to differential causing signal amplitude loss.

There is an LMK04828 on ADC32RF80EVM. By installing C431 and C432, differential output from LMK can be directly connected to ADC32RF80's differential clock input. Even with that there's a few dB of degradation in SNR when compared with clocking from LMX2592 (default option on EVM). LMX2592 can provide more output power at 2949.12MHz.

    Regards,
