DAC5689: Regarding how to use in dual clock mode

Hello support team.

I have a question from my customer regarding how to use in dual clock mode.

Regarding how to use, CLK2 is continually input and CLKO_CLK1 is controlled inputting ON or OFF by clock source.

(CLK1C is AC coupled to GND.)

Is this usage acceptable?

My customer says that the output of the DAC5689 is sometimes anomalous.

Hi,

This is not the expected usage of the dual clock mode or any type of clock mode for the DAC5689. The clock inputs of both CLK1 and CLK2 have to be continuous for the DAC5689. The DAC does not support burst clock input mode.

Could you give me some advice on where to look in the datasheet to understand that burst clock input is not supported?

The architecture of the DAC design does not allow this, given it has a small 16 sample FIFO and the design of the data path requires a continuous clock flow. Also, the timing diagrams and descriptions of the clock modes of the DAC5689 starting in page 30 only specified continuous clock mode. There is no direct mentioning that burst clock input is supported.
