ADS124S08: Evaluation Board

Part Number: ADS124S08

As suggested by Joseph Wu in my earlier thread, I have bought a ADS1x4S08 Evaluation Module. Now I want to interface this board with an Arduino board. Is it just enough to put JP1 jumper and give digital signals( CS, SCLK, SDI SDO, DRDY)  from arduino at J3? On evaluation board Where shall I give +5v DC power from Arduino  so that all works at same ground reference and common 5V dc supply?

  • Hi Satheesh,

Adding a jumper to JP1 will hold the on-board micro in a reset state which will also disable the level shifters.

There is a complication running from a single external 5V supply. The DVDD supply cannot operate at greater than 3.9V. The ADS1x4S08EVM uses 3.3V for the DVDD and IOVDD voltages. I would suggest you plug the USB cable into the EVM to supply the voltage which will then provide supply voltages for both 3.3V and 5V power to the device. If your micro is using an IO voltage that is 5V, then you can remove the jumper JP6 and apply the 5V to the jumper position that supplies the IOVDD pin. You can connect your Arduino board ground to any of the ground contact pins on the EVM.

You would then apply the appropriate communication signals to the J3 connector, and you must make sure that the RESET pin is pulled high.

    Best regards,
