I checked out the other posts that reported a similar issue. I am running Windows Vista 32-bit SP1 and I've made sure the UAC settings are Off. Also, I was running Symantec antivirus software but uninstalled it to try and correct this problem. I've also disabled Windows Defender and Firewall.
The problem occurs after installing the Code Composer v3.3 that was provided with the L138/TMS320C6748 EVM I just got. After you start the program from the desktop shortcut, it reaches the spash screen and hangs.
I previously had the CCS v4.1 evaluation software installed on the same computer and it ran fine. I uninstalled it before installing the v3.3 that came with the dev kit.
Does anyone have an idea about what else could be causing the problem?
Thanks!
Ryan,
There is some info at the links below. However I don't think that is going to help here. I suspect that it is an issue with the cc_setup executable that CCS runs when starting up. Vista really doesn't like it. You could try changing it to always run as admin or to run in XP mode.

I have been running Vista and now Win7 since Vista was released and I can say that CCSv4 runs much better on Vista/Win7 than CCSv3.3. Make sure to install somewhere other than Program files, typically not a problem for 3.3 as it defaults somewhere else.

John,
I think the problem is that I was using the wrong shortcut to launch CCS. When I installed CCS it created a shortcut on my Start menu which tries to launch the app and then hangs. It also created two shortcuts on my desktop that were named "EVMC6748 CCStudio v3.3" and "EVMOMAP-L138 CCStudio v3.3" which do successfully launch the app depending on which SOM I have plugged in.
I thought I may have seen something documented somewhere regarding this in all my searching, but I can't recall where now.
Anyway it seems to work fine with the desktop icons.
Thanks
Ryan
Ryan,
Good to know you got it working. I will mark your reply as an answer just in case anyone else hits the same thing.
