CCS/CCSTUDIO: 7.4.0 Won't install

I tried both the Web based install on a Win 7.0 64bit machine (new Dell Precision Laptop bought last fall) and the "stand-alone" install and both attempts ended in failure. BTW, the second one successfully sent the install log to the TI support site in the sky to show where the install failed but I have not received any notification of its receipt or contact to help. I thought that the stand-alone version had a better chance since it would presumably have all the necessary bits of code as part of the install package but to no avail. Is there some underlying install issue with 7.4.0 that has not been resolved yet? Any thoughts?

I had selected MSP430/432, FRAM, and C2000 Compilers along with other options that looked helpful (less other compilers) to include all of the supported emulator/debuggers.

I have used the "paper clip" Insert File twice -- you should have two zip files of install logs -- I believe one batch has the info related to the first attempt with the web approach and the other the attempt with the standalone version. Hope these help.

Sorry, I was doing it wrong -- after I uploaded the file I tried to add text in the box and it wipped out the upload. This is a zip file with all of the CCS 7 series installs over time to include 7.0, probably 7.1, 7.2 twice and 7.4 twice.

Hi Keith,

It looks like you tried installing 7.4 over top of another installation. Could you make sure you install in a clean folder? Your 7.2 installations, both of them look like they installed fine.

I will try it but I don't like it -- do you have an alternate location suggestion? I've liked a single ti install directory to make it easier to find header files and key information...

Call me confused -- so far every click of 6.0 installed over the previous one, up to now, clicks of 7.0 (7.1, 7.2 twice) installed over the previous one no problem -- the second install of 7.2 was because the second attempt at 7.4.0 (standalone version) corrupted my 7.2 to where it wouldn't work.

So why is "all of a sudden" 7.4.0 the broken way-child? Hope this works...

Ok,

I ran the standalone install again and instead of installing under the existing C:\ti\ccsv7 I used C:\ti\ccs740\ccsv7 and after installing it (which completed) and started up, I downloaded and installed to sets of updates found by the update checker. My code appears to building except for some compile issues caused by some incomplete changes left hanging from late yesterday afternoon before I quit for the day.

So I am going to mark this resolved but I still don't understand why I had to use a clean install when it has never been required up to now.

There was a problem with one of the features in 7.2 that wouldn't allow an over install. This was fixed in 7.4 but I think the multiple over installs left it your installation in a weird state. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
