DLPDLCR2000EVM: The evaluation board suddenly stopped responding to I2C commands

Hi Team,

Our customer were able to operate the DLP2000EVM evaluation module. Suddenly, it stopped responding to I2C Commands. An Arduino script was uses to scan all possible address but didn't received any response from the board. According to our customer,

Sometimes the DLP react to the i2c sometimes not. It also seems to be accepting i2c directly after plugging it in. If I try to send a i2c signal after that it doesn't work anymore. In the images yellow = scl , green = sda.

This is another example of the i2c communication between DLP and ESP8266.

I have also add that the voltage of the lines is around 2V when it is connected to the DLP. Without a connection to the DLP it is 3.3V.

What could be the cause of this error?

Danilo,

2V does not sound sufficient to drive the 3.3V I2C bus on the DLPDLCR2000EVM. have you tried adding a pullup resistor to your I2C interface circuitry? You can also try slowing down the I2C interface speed to see if that helps. What does your setup look like?

Hi Philippe,

Thank you for your response. According to our customer,

I tried adding a pullup resistor and slowed down the i2c interface but both didn't work. Yellow is the Clock , Green is the DATA line. Even with Pull up the voltage is only around 2.6V.

Danilo,

The customer may want to take a closer look at the I2C bus in this case. Perhaps there is a short or resistive connection to ground. Alternatively, the 3.3V reference may be receiving too little power.
