DLP230KP: Control of DMD without DLPC3434 display controller

Part Number: DLP230KP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC3434,

Hello,

our company is interested in DLP230KP digital micromirror device. For our project we need cheap solution to display binary images (no RGB or Grayscale needed). Is it possible to control DLP230KP directly from FPGA without need of DLPC3434 display controller? Would it be possible to get information about communication protocol to control DLP230KP? We can sign NDA if needed. Thank you

Best regards,
Mindaugas Sulcas

  • Hello Mindaugas,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology!

Unfortunately there is not way to drive the DLP230KP DMD without a DLPC3434 micro-controller. Generally speaking, our DMDs require a DLPC for reliable initialization and operation and cannot function otherwise. For this reason the DMDs and DLPCs are designed to work as a chipset with a supporting DLPA PMIC. We are very happy to assist in your application if you would like to further explain the end use, but the controller will be necessary in any case.

    Kind regards,

    Austin

  • Thank you, , for quick response. Would it be possible to discuss other solutions from Texas Instruments privately?

  • Hello Mindaugas,

Yes, I have accepted your friend request. Please let me know the goal of your design in the direct messages so that I might point you in the right direction.

    Regards,

    Austin
