lightcrafter 4500 displaying options

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4500

I have a lightcrafter 4500 and I have a question regarding the displaying options

As I can see in the user's manual of the lightcrafter 4500 two options exist to produce the vertical and horizontal lines: use every row or column, or use every other row or column. Is there anyway I can access to change this settings?

When I display my pattern there is a change in the aspect ratio of the image. For example, if I upload a bmp image of a square, when I project it, it looks like a rectangle with the horizontal side longer.

If I upload a checkboard image where every square is one pixel size like:

The projection looks like this:

This is causing my projected patterns to have a wrong aspect ratio.

How can I solve this?

Thank you,

Clara

  • Hello Clara,

Please allow us some time to look into this. The team will get back to you next week.

  • Hello Clara,

    Thank you for your patience.

The DLP4500 DMD used in this evm has diamond pixel geometry. Please refer to page 11 of the EVM user guide for details.

    DLP® LightCrafterTm 4500 Evaluation Module User's Guide (Rev. F)

In display mode , the controller is projecting a video image and the input is expected in 1280x800 format (Manhattan grid). The controller does various image processing and maps pixel to  DMD's pixel grid (Diamond).

In pattern mode , controller is expecting input in 912x1140 format (Diamond grid). It is by-passing all image processing and input data should match DMD pixel grid.

Hopefully this explain why you are seeing a difference in projected image.

    regards,

    Vivek

  •  Dear Vivek,

I am aware of the pixels geometry od the DMD.

I am using pattern mode in which each pixel should match one DMD mirror as you say. Under my understanding I should see a pattern that exactly corresponds to my input image (which size is 912x1140).

Referring to the same page you mentioned (page 11 of the EVM user guide) you can see that there are two configurations to generate horizontal and vertical lines. How can I check which is the configuration and is there any option that I can change it?

  • Hello Clara,

The mentioned two types of generating the horizontal and vertical lines are not the dmd configurations. But rather explaining how the pattern data that is given gets displayed. So if you need a faint or straight lines you need to populate the alternate column and row pixel data before inputting  and if you need a thick lines then you can let the alternate columns be as it is.
