DLPC3478: Question about the transient current is high

Part Number: DLPC3478
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3010LC, , DLPA2005

Dear Expert

The three piece structured light control set currently used for DLP3010LC, DLPC3478, and DLPA2005 has two main points to synchronize with you:
1.We received firmware V9.0.1 for testing about four months ago, and currently there are no issues with our application during testing.

2. Another issue that exists is as follows. Could you please ask TI's technical support
At the moment when the LED is turned on, the transient current is high, causing the input voltage of DLPA2005 to be very low, causing system instability. What are the optimizations in terms of hardware or firmware for this?

  • Hello Gabriel,

Welcome back to the E2E forum.

Can you speak more on the instability that you are experiencing? If this is related to the system power cycling (turning off and then back on), it is possible that your power supply does not have the proper current rating. In the case that the current rating is too low (say below 4.4A), the sudden high current draw of the transient current on the LEDs may cause a drop in the input voltage to the DLPA. If the DLPA detects that the input voltage is too low, it will trigger a reset to protect the DLP circuitry.

    Regards,

    Austin
